In previous years, the Note series’ biggest fault was the fact that it was made of cheap plastics that made the expensive phone feel rather light and pathetic in the hands. Samsung recently introduced a far more premium metal and glass design on the S6 and S6 Edge and have gone down the same route with the Note 5. On top of this, the phone may have the biggest screen in 5.7″ in the Note series yet but it has the slimmest and lightest profile of any to come before it. This will surely be a bonus for the Note fans who regularly update with the next iteration. A phone that now not only feels slimmer and lighter but is also made of far more premium materials is likely to be a huge bonus.

Another thing that the Note series has always been lauded for is it’s brilliant battery life. The previous Note 4 let down the side a little bit by offering a more normal 10 hours of battery life but it looks like Samsung have sorted that out in this Note. On top of this, the device supports an automatic power saver feature when the battery gets down to a certain level… or you can turn it on whenever you like.

That’s the same amount of RAM that most computers come with these days. That’s a whole lot of power in such a small device. Therefore, it results is some truly solid performance and graphical power allowing the device to scream through almost any task and game thrown at it.

The S-Pen especially this year has been improved quite a bit. The accuracy and speed is being forever improved and now is supposed to feel as close to writing with a real pen than ever before. On top of that, one of the coolest features we’ve ever seen is the ability to quickly jot something on the turned off screen by simply clicking the button on the stylus and begin writing away. The off screen will show you what you’re typing and will save that Note to your notepad. This will save you having to turn on your screen, unlock the phone and then opening the jotting app just to take quickly down someone’s number, or address or whatever.
